Pimpri-Chinchwad, 5th July 2025: Shankar Jagtap, MLA from Pimpri Chinchwad, has formally urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to convene a high-level joint meeting of all relevant authorities to address the worsening infrastructure crisis in Pune’s Hinjawadi. In a letter to the Chief Minister, Jagtap highlighted the severe challenges faced by the area, including chronic traffic congestion, illegal encroachments, recurring flooding during monsoons, and a persistent lack of basic civic amenities. These issues, he noted, are not only disrupting the daily lives of the lakhs of IT professionals commuting to the park but are also impacting local residents.

Jagtap’s letter points out that the root of the problem lies in the lack of coordination among multiple governing bodies, ranging from the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad municipal corporations to the MIDC, PMRDA, and various other agencies. This fragmentation, he argues, has led to delays in decision-making and implementation of much-needed solutions. The Wakad-Pimpri Chinchwad Residents Development and Welfare Association, representing thousands of IT employees and residents, has also rallied behind Jagtap’s call, citing that over 40,000 to 50,000 IT workers have recently registered their complaints and demands on the Unclog social platform.

Sachin Londhe, chairman of the association, confirmed that Jagtap has already raised the matter in the Maharashtra Assembly and is now pushing for a meeting involving all responsible commissioners, the CEO and Principal Secretary of State, the Chief Minister, and the CMO teams. Londhe thanked the MLA for supporting the longstanding demand for better infrastructure in Hinjawadi, which, despite being a global IT hub, has struggled with these issues for over two decades.
