Pune, 9th March 2026: Model and 2019 Miss India Earth titleholder Sayali Surve, a resident of Pimpri-Chinchwad, has returned to Hinduism after undergoing a purification ritual and has adopted a new name, Adya Surve.

According to information shared during the ceremony, Surve had married Mira Bhayandar-based entrepreneur Aatif Tase in 2019. The marriage had reportedly taken place despite opposition from her family. At the time of the marriage, she had converted to Islam and was given the name Ateeja Tase.

However, the marriage did not last long. Speaking to media persons, Surve alleged that she faced harassment after the wedding and claimed that she had been under pressure regarding religious conversion. She also said that she had attempted to approach the police regarding the alleged harassment but did not receive the response she expected.

After enduring the situation for several months, Surve said she contacted Hindu organisations seeking assistance. With their support, she decided to return to her original faith.

A special programme was organised in Pimpri-Chinchwad, where rituals were performed as part of the purification ceremony. Following the ritual, her name was changed from Ateeja to Adya Surve.

Speaking during the event, Surve said women facing similar situations should not silently endure harassment and should seek support when necessary. She also said that she had continued in the marriage for several years primarily because of her four children and concerns about their future.
