Pune: Moneylender Arrested For Raping Borrower’s Wife in Hadapsar; Recorded and Threatened to Publicly Shame Victim
Hadapsar, 26th July 2023: A shocking incident unfolded in Hadapsar, where a private moneylender resorted to a heinous act of rape against the wife of a borrower who had failed to repay his debt.
The accused, identified as Imtiaz Hashim Shaikh (47) from MHADA Colony, Hadapsar, allegedly wielded a knife to intimidate the victim’s husband while committing the vile act. Moreover, he recorded the assault on his mobile phone and later used the video as blackmail, threatening to make it viral on social media if the victim did not comply with his demands.
The incident, which occurred in February 2023, came to light after the 34-year-old woman bravely approached the Hadapsar police and lodged a formal complaint (1086/23). According to the police, the victim’s husband had borrowed money from Imtiaz Shaikh and was unable to repay the debt on time. Seizing this opportunity, Shaikh resorted to threatening the couple’s lives, forcing them to comply with his malicious intentions.
Under the guise of settling the matter, Shaikh called the couple to his residence in Hadapsar, where he carried out the appalling crime. He used the knife to instill fear and control over the husband while sexually assaulting the victim. To further torment and manipulate the victim, Shaikh began summoning her to his house repeatedly, coercing her into silence.
Refusing to bow down to the perpetrator’s demands, the victim bravely stood her ground and declined further visits to his residence. In retaliation, Shaikh cold-heartedly uploaded the video of the assault on various social media platforms as a means of public humiliation.
However, the victim’s courage prevailed, and she decided to seek justice by approaching the police and registering a complaint against the accused. The Hadapsar police acted swiftly, apprehending Imtiaz Hashim Shaikh, who now faces charges for his despicable actions.
