Pune Police Sends Strong Message to Criminals: Notorious Offender Humiliated in Public Parade
Pune, 26th July 2023: A notorious criminal, Vaibhav Ikkar (23), whose reign of terror had sent shockwaves through the Kirkatwadi and Khadakwasla areas of Sinhagad Road, was paraded in front of the very residents he had threatened and abused. His accomplice, Chetan Chorghe (27), also faced the brunt of the police action. Both criminals hail from Kolhewadi, Khadakwasla.
The brazen criminal had once boldly claimed he was fearless, not even scared of the police. His audacity was on full display last Sunday (July 23) when he and Chetan Chorghe vandalized a restaurant located near Sinhagad Road. When the police responded to the incident, they were met with hostility as the criminals verbally abused, physically pushed aside, and threatened the law enforcement officers.
Vaibhav Ikkar’s rap sheet is far from clean, with multiple serious crimes already registered against him, including assaulting police personnel in the past. However, this time, the police were determined to put an end to his reign of terror.
Following a complaint from the restaurant owner, an FIR was lodged against Vaibhav Ikkar and Chetan Chorghe. Taking a strict stand against the criminals, Officer-in-charge Anmol Mittal initiated immediate action.
In a bid to demonstrate that nobody is above the law and to instill a sense of fear in the minds of these criminals, the police devised a unique approach. They brought Vaibhav Ikkar and Chetan Chorghe back to the scene of their misdeeds – the restaurant they had vandalized – and meted out ‘special’ treatment.
During the public parade, Vaibhav Ikkar was heard saying, “Sir, you will not beat up anybody now, isn’t it? My capacity is over. Are you in a lot of pain?” The sight of the once fearless criminal humbled in front of the residents was a testament to the effectiveness of the police action.
This strong response from the Pune Police sends a clear message that they will not tolerate lawlessness and will take all necessary steps to protect the safety and security of the public. The parade aimed to reestablish the trust of the community and assure them that the police are committed to upholding the rule of law and bringing criminals to justice.
