Pune, August 11, 2020: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has released the ward wise data of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) cases. Most of the cases are in Hadapsar-Mundhwa, Nagar Road, Sinhgad Road, Kothrud-Bavdhan ward areas. While the number of COVID-19 patients in the city is increasing, the number of patients recovering from treatment has also increased significantly.

According to PMC, the total number of Coronavirus positive patients to date has reached 66,727 out of which 50,113 have recovered while 1571 have died. There are still 15,043 active patients undergoing treatment in various hospitals. They include 738 critical patients out of which 444 are on ventilator support.

The first case of COVID infection was found in the city on March 9. The number of infected patients was controlled until May. From mid-May, a large number of patients were detected. The number of infected patients has been on the rise since June. The increase in the number of cases is said to be due to the large-scale introduction of antigen tests. From July 10 to July 16, 7,161 patients were found in the city.

Various preventive measures are being implemented at the municipal level to prevent corona infection. These measures have increased the rate of recovery. The recovery rate of COVID patients in Pune city is 75 percent.
