Pune: Motorcycle Skids at Turn, Two Brothers Killed Under Truck in Baramati

Baramati, 27th July 2026: Two brothers were killed after their motorcycle skidded and came under a goods truck in Baramati taluka of Pune district on Sunday afternoon. The accident, which occurred at Ahilyadevi Chowk on the Supe Chowfula road, was captured on a CCTV camera.

The deceased have been identified as Somnath Dattatraya Thombre and Shubham Dattatraya Thombre, both residents of Shendgewadi in the Supe area of Baramati taluka.

According to police, the brothers were returning home on their motorcycle (MH 42 E 1878). As they were taking a turn at Ahilyadevi Chowk, the two-wheeler reportedly skidded, causing both riders to fall onto the road. At the same time, the rear wheel of a goods truck (MH 10 CR 4199), which was heading towards Morgaon, ran over them.

Somnath Thombre died on the spot, while Shubham sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. He was, however, declared dead during treatment.

The entire sequence of the accident was captured on CCTV footage, which showed the motorcycle losing balance while negotiating the turn before the riders fell under the moving truck.

The deaths of the two brothers from the same family have cast a pall of gloom over Shendgewadi and the Baramati taluka, with residents expressing shock and grief over the tragedy.

Assistant Police Inspector Manojkumar Navsare of Supe police station is conducting further investigation into the accident.
