Baramati, 13th July 2026: Baramati Railway Station in Pune Division of Central Railway, redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) at a cost of ₹11.40 crore, is expected to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 17. The upgraded station has been equipped with modern passenger amenities, improved accessibility and enhanced infrastructure aimed at providing a better travel experience.

The redevelopment project includes modernization of the station building, improvement of the entrance gate, development of the circulating area, upgraded parking facilities, new toilet blocks, a renovated waiting hall and VIP lounge, platform covers, improved platform surfaces, modern station signages, enhanced drinking water facilities, Divyangjan-friendly amenities and strengthening of the station’s entrance infrastructure.

Baramati Railway Station handles around 1,800 passengers daily and is served by eight passenger train services every day. It serves as an important transport hub for Baramati and surrounding areas, which are known for agriculture, the cooperative sugar industry, dairy production, grape cultivation, food processing, engineering industries and educational institutions.

The redeveloped station features a modern architectural design incorporating elements inspired by Baramati’s local culture while integrating contemporary passenger facilities. Improved lighting, standardized signage, better passenger circulation, upgraded sanitation facilities, barrier-free access for Divyangjan passengers and enhanced waiting areas have also been provided.

The redevelopment has been carried out under Indian Railways’ Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which aims to modernize railway stations across the country by improving passenger amenities, accessibility and station infrastructure while preserving local architectural identity.

Baramati Railway Station was opened in 1914 as a narrow-gauge station and was later converted to broad gauge, strengthening rail connectivity with the state’s railway network.

The station is directly connected to the town through the main road and State Highways, with auto-rickshaws and other local transport services providing last-mile connectivity. Newly developed parking facilities have also been created for commuters.

Baramati is also a gateway to several tourist destinations, including Bhigwan Bird Sanctuary, the Siddheshwar Temple, the Baramati Agri Tourism Centre and the Karha River area, making the station an important point of access for visitors travelling to the region.
