Pune-Mumbai Commuters Embrace E-Shivneri Buses, Generating Rs 2 Crore Revenue within A Month

Pune, 2nd June 2023: In just a month since its introduction, the electric Shivneri bus has made a remarkable impact on the Maharashtra State Transport Corporation (MSRTC) fleet. Currently, 26 E-Shivneri buses are operational on the Mumbai-Pune and Thane-Pune routes, attracting a significant number of passengers. Over 50,000 passengers have already traveled on these buses, contributing to a revenue of 2 crore rupees for the MSRTC.

The E-Shivneri buses have gained recognition as eco-friendly, modern, air-conditioned vehicles that navigate the challenging ghat sections. The Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, inaugurated the E-Shivneri Bus service on May 1st, 2023. Initially launched between Thane and Pune, the service expanded to include the Dadar-Pune route starting from May 19th.

Since its inception, the E-Shivneri bus service has received a positive response from passengers, resulting in the impressive ridership of over 50,000 individuals in just one month. This remarkable achievement has boosted the ST’s revenue by 2 crore rupees.

Encouraged by this success, the MSRTC has announced plans to expand the fleet by introducing 100 more E-Shivneri buses. This expansion aims to provide safe, pollution-free, and comfortable transportation services to thousands of passengers. By incorporating electric buses into their fleet, the ST is taking a significant step towards sustainable and environmentally friendly public transportation.

The E-Shivneri bus service offers commuters a convenient and efficient travel option between key cities in Maharashtra. Passengers have appreciated the modern amenities and comfortable journey provided by these electric buses, which contribute to a cleaner and greener environment.
