Pune: Mumbai Teen Drowns in Ashkhed Dam While Visiting for Wedding in Khed
Pune, 5 May 2026: A 16-year-old boy drowned at Askhed dam in Parale village of Khed taluka on Tuesday after he jumped into the water despite not knowing how to swim. The deceased has been identified as Yash Jadhav.
According to initial information, a group of four to five friends had come to Parale village from Mumbai to attend a wedding. During their visit, they went to the nearby dam for a swim. None of the boys reportedly knew how to swim, yet one of them entered the water and began to drown.
Local authorities were alerted, following which the rescue team of Vanyajeev Rakshak Maval Sanstha was contacted along with Shivdurg Mitra Lonavala. The teams rushed to the spot and retrieved the body from the dam.
The rescue operation was carried out by team members including Nilesh Garade (founder), Vinay Sawant, Kundan Bhosale, Abhishek Marathe and Anish Garade.
The incident falls under the jurisdiction of Mahalunge MIDC Police Station in Chakan.
Further investigation is underway.
