Pune-Mumbai Travel To Become More Expensive With Toll Hike Expressway And Old Highway
Pune, 29th March 2023: The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation has announced an 18 percent toll hike on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, effective April 1. The toll on the old Pune-Mumbai highway will also be increased by the same percentage. The cumulative increase will be extended for three years. The move will add to the financial burden of motorists, who are already grappling with the high price of fuel.
The increased toll rate on the old Pune-Mumbai highway will be applicable from April 1. On March 14, locals had protested against the Somatne toll booth on the same highway. The government had then promised to find a solution, but two weeks later, the toll hike was announced. This means that both the Pune-Mumbai Expressway and the old highway will now cost more.
The new toll rates for the old Pune-Mumbai highway are as follows:
Vehicle – Old Toll – New Toll
Car – 135 – 156
Light Vehicle – 240 – 277
Goods Vehicle/Bus – 476 – 551
Heavy Vehicle – 1023 – 1184
The toll rates for local citizens are:
Vehicle – Old Toll – New Toll
Car – 41 – 47
Light Vehicle – 72 – 83
Goods Vehicle/Bus – 143 – 165
Heavy Vehicles – 307 – 355
