Pune, 20th September 2025: Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram has directed municipal officials to actively inspect the city’s streets to identify and resolve civic problems, including encroachments, potholes, blocked drains, and other issues affecting residents. The commissioner has also said that he will personally visit some locations as part of this initiative.

Recent rains have highlighted long-standing problems across Pune, especially on roads managed by the Municipal Corporation’s road department. Waterlogging and potholes are causing difficulties for drivers and pedestrians alike. Citizens have also complained about encroachments by shopkeepers and vendors, which narrow footpaths and roadways, creating additional hazards.

Taking note of these concerns, Commissioner Ram instructed engineers and superintendent engineers to go on-site and directly inspect the problems faced by residents. “In the next few days, the deputy commissioner and additional commissioner, along with officers from various departments of the Municipal Corporation, will visit different parts of the city to assess the issues. This will include roads, encroachments, sewage disposal, and other key departments,” said Commissioner Ram.

He added that officers must be aware of local-level problems, which requires them to observe conditions firsthand. “All concerned officers will come out on the streets to inspect these issues. As Municipal Commissioner, I will also participate in this exercise. Through this approach, many problems can be identified and resolved effectively,” Ram said.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that municipal departments are responsive to citizens’ concerns and improve the quality of civic services across Pune.
