Pune, 3rd February 2025: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, over 100 sanitation workers from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will embark on a study tour to Indore, the city that has consistently ranked first in India’s cleanliness survey for the past seven years. The tour is part of the “Clean, Beautiful, and Developed Kasba” campaign spearheaded by Kasba Peth MLA Hemant Rasane.

The campaign aims to transform Pune’s historic Kasba area into one of the cleanest and most beautiful constituencies in India. Following the recent Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Election results in November 2024, MLA Rasane conducted an inspection tour of the constituency alongside PMC officials, including Additional Commissioner Prithviraj B.P. Immediate actions were taken to address chronic garbage dumping spots in the area. Of the 37 chronic spots identified under Bhavani Peth and Kasba-Vishrambaug Ward Offices, 29 have been eliminated, while efforts are ongoing to close the remaining eight. Daily garbage collection has been increased to twice a day, and additional garbage collection vehicles have been deployed.

To further enhance planning and citizen awareness, a three-day study tour to Indore has been organized from 5th February to 7th February. The delegation will include PMC officials, sanitation workers, BJP local representatives, volunteers from NGOs, Ganesh mandal members, teachers, journalists, and others—totalling around 300 participants. The team will observe Indore’s waste management projects and systematic garbage collection processes. Indore Smart City CEO Shraddha Tomar will guide the delegation during their visit.

MLA Hemant Rasane stated that this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advice to newly elected representatives to undertake study tours for implementing best practices in their constituencies. Rasane also revealed plans to visit Ujjain during the tour to study the development model of its religious sites and replicate similar efforts in Pune.

The campaign has received strong support from Maharashtra’s state government. Rasane recently met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who assured full cooperation for making Kasba a garbage-free constituency. Additionally, Madhya Pradesh officials, including Indore Municipal Commissioner Shivam Verma, have extended their assistance for the study tour at the request of MLA Rasane.
