Pune, 24th June 2023: Recognizing the increasing prevalence of kidney-related ailments and the rising need for dialysis services, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has made the decision to establish four new dialysis centers in the city. Currently, the PMC operates 12 dialysis facilities, each equipped with four to ten beds, across Pune.

The first phase of this expansion will involve the establishment of a ten-bed dialysis center at Sundarabai Ganpat Raut Hospital on Paud Road in Kelewadi. The PMC has initiated a tender process for this facility, and it will be awarded to the organization offering dialysis services at the most affordable rates. Once selected, the private player will be responsible for managing the Raut Hospital center for a duration of ten years. While the PMC will provide the necessary space, the chosen organization will furnish the equipment and staff required for operation. These clinics will function as public-private partnerships and will offer dialysis treatments at minimal fees.

In addition to the Raut Hospital center, the PMC has plans to establish three more dialysis facilities in the coming months. The selection process will prioritize organizations that offer hemodialysis services at rates lower than those set by the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). Each of the new centers will accommodate ten beds and serve patients with renal illnesses, except for those with HIV and hepatitis.

The selected private player will not only manage the dialysis center but also ensure affordable services for the general public. The PMC will allocate approximately 1,500 square feet of space within PMC-run hospitals for the dialysis units. While the PMC will cover the costs of water and energy, the chosen organization will provide the necessary machinery and staff.

By expanding the number of dialysis centers, the PMC aims to meet the growing demand for these critical healthcare services in Pune. The goal is to ensure that more patients have access to timely and affordable dialysis treatments. The PMC’s proactive measures reflect their commitment to the well-being of the citizens and their efforts to enhance healthcare infrastructure in the city.
