Pune, 2nd July 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has received national recognition for its efforts in digital governance and citizen-centric public service delivery. The civic body’s flagship digital transformation initiative, ‘PMC 360’, has been awarded the Silver Award at the National e-Governance Awards 2026 presented by the Government of India.

The award was formally conferred during the 29th National e-Governance Awards ceremony held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on July 2. The winners had been announced on June 4, 2026.

PMC received the Silver Award in the category ‘Initiatives in District/Urban Local Body Level e-Governance’. The award was presented by Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr. Jitendra Singh and Rajasthan’s Information Technology and Communications Minister Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.

On behalf of the Pune Municipal Corporation, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Estate) Prajit Nair, Head of the Information Technology Department Rahul Jagtap, and Vandana Bhangare accepted the award. The recognition is being seen as a significant endorsement of PMC’s technology-driven, transparent and citizen-focused governance model.

Under the leadership of Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, Additional Municipal Commissioner (General) Pavneet Kaur, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Estate) Prajit Nair, and Additional Municipal Commissioner (Special) Omprakash Divte, the civic body has undertaken an extensive digital transformation drive in recent years.

The initiative has included the complete modernisation of the PMC website, revamping of digital systems, development of new citizen-centric online services, strengthening of the grievance redressal mechanism, and integration of artificial intelligence (AI)-based solutions to improve civic administration.

As part of the ‘PMC 360’ project, the civic body has introduced a modern website, an integrated online services portal, advanced complaint analysis and management systems, WhatsApp-based citizen services, and easy-to-access digital platforms for information dissemination and grievance redressal. PMC has also begun deploying AI- and GIS-based technologies across various civic projects to deliver faster, more transparent, accessible and reliable services to residents.

The project was presented before an expert committee in New Delhi and subsequently underwent a national-level evaluation process, following which it was selected for the Silver Award. The civic body stated that the project was implemented through coordinated efforts across multiple departments, with IT Department Head Rahul Jagtap playing a key role in its execution.

PMC said the recognition reflects Pune’s emergence as one of India’s leading cities in digital governance while preserving its rich historical legacy. The corporation added that the ‘PMC 360’ initiative has set a new benchmark for technology-enabled, transparent and citizen-centric administration. It also credited the achievement to the collective efforts of its officers, employees, the Information Technology Department, technology partners and the citizens of Pune.
