Pune: Nashik Police Officer Tries To Imitate ‘Special 26’ To Trap Town Planning Officer, Arrested With Wife And Friend

Pune, 1st July 2022: Claiming to be from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), three persons who tried to rob the Deputy Director of Town Planning in Karvenagar were arrested by the Pune Police from Thane and Nashik.
Surprisingly, one of the three who planned the robbery is a police officer from the Nashik City Police. The main accused had planned to set up a ‘special 26’ film-style trap at the house of the Deputy Director of Town Planning. For this, he took his friend and wife along with him. Warje police arrived at the spot on time and they had to flee.
The main accused Ganesh Santosh Patil (41) is working in Nashik City Police Force. He earlier served with the ACB in Mumbai for six years. The other arrested persons include his wife Jayashree Ganesh Patil (37), a resident of Indira Nagar, Nashik and friend Harshal Srikant Ghag (34), a resident of Shivai Nagar, Thane.
According to police, the three entered the house of the Deputy Director of Town Planning in Karvenagar on Friday morning. They claimed to be the police officers from the Mumbai ACB who have come for the raid. Upon receiving the information, Warje police station PSI Trupti Patil quickly reached the spot. After being questioned, the fake officers fled in panic.
While investigating further, the police inspected all CCTV cameras in the surrounding area. It was visible that the trio had appeared to be coming to the Deputy Director’s house in a Skoda car. The vehicle had turned at Ambedkar Chowk before reaching the director’s house. Police got the vehicle number from there and it was found out that the car belonged to Ghag. Accordingly, the police traced and arrested Ghag from Thane.
Further inquiries revealed the details of Ganesh and his wife Jayashree. A team of Sub-Inspectors Rameshwar Parve, Narendra Mundhe, Amol Raut, Ravi Gade, Hanumant Masal and Konde under the guidance of Senior Police Shankar Khatke and Dattaram Bagwe arrested them within just five days.
