Pune: NDA Khadakwasla Employee Found Dead on Campus, Police Probe Underway
Khadakwasla, 8th January 2026: A 31-year-old civilian employee of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, was found dead in an incident of suspected suicide on Thursday evening, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Mayur Pawar, who was working as a cadet orderly and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) at the NDA. According to officials, Pawar was found unresponsive inside a furniture store on the academy premises around 5.45 pm. The incident was immediately reported to the authorities.
Pawar, a resident of Lamanwadi in Khadakwasla, had been associated with the NDA for nearly 11 years and was on duty with his squadron at the time of the incident. Personnel from Uttamnagar Police Station reached the spot soon after receiving information and initiated an investigation.
Police officials said a note was recovered from the spot in which Pawar reportedly mentioned financial stress and stated that no one should be held responsible for his death. Based on preliminary findings, the case has been registered as an unnatural death, and further inquiry is underway.
The police have informed the deceased’s family, and his mortal remains were sent to Sassoon General Hospital for post-mortem examination as part of standard procedure.
In a statement, the NDA authorities said the Commandant and all personnel of the academy stand with the bereaved family during this period of grief and are extending all necessary assistance and cooperation to the family as well as the civil authorities.
