Pune, 14th April 2023: The Land Records Department in Pune has announced that it is developing an online platform to provide citizens with easy access to all the processes related to land registration and claims.

The platform, called the ‘EQJ-Court App’ 2.0, will bring together three departments – Revenue, Registration and Stamp Duty, and Land Records – to provide a one-stop-shop for citizens to review and access information related to land registration and claims.

One of the main features of the app will be the ability for citizens to view the current status of land claim hearings in real-time. This will eliminate the need for parties and lawyers to wait for hours at the collector’s office for their case to be heard. The ‘EQJ-Court Live Board Pune’ app, developed by the Revenue Department, is already being used to provide information on the current status of land claim hearings. The new app will build on this functionality and expand its scope to include all aspects of land registration and claims.

Sarita Narke, Additional Collector of Land Records Department and State Coordinator of E-Ferfar Project, explained that the online process for registration currently goes to Talathi for the Ferfar. If there is no complaint within 15 days, an entry is made on the propet slip or 7/12 land extract. However, if there is a problem, it can take a lot of time to record. The new app will provide citizens with information on the current stage of their case, eliminating confusion and making the process more transparent.

Lawyers will also need to register with the app, which will enable senior officers of the administration to follow up on cases. Land claims are heard before the Additional Collector in the Collector’s office, and the Land Records Department deals with land enumeration claims, while the Registration and Stamp Duty Department deals with quasi-judicial matters. By combining these departments, the new app will streamline the land registration process and provide citizens with a more efficient and transparent service.

The National Informatics Center (NIC) has been tasked with developing the new app, and it is expected to be implemented across the entire Maharashtra state in the next six months.
