Pune: New Posters Reappear Days After PMC Removed Illegal Hoardings And Posters On Roads In Undri, Mohammadwadi, Wanowrie

Kondhwa, 4th October 2022: Since the past six months, activists and residents have together been trying to remove the ugly-looking posters and hoardings from the Mohammadwadi, Undri, and Wanowrie areas of Pune. Tickets and fines had been imposed against this activity right from NIBM Chowk to Wanowrie as well as Mohammadwadi and Undri areas.
After many complaints regarding the matter, PMC, using the taxpayer’s money, comes every 4-6 weeks to remove these posters but as soon as they are removed, new ones are put up by the people the very next day or within the next two-three days.
A resident of the area, Col Deepak Kumar (Rtd) said, ‘’The same thing has resulted in a recent incident in Undri on the Godrej Horizon Road, in front of the Corinthians club road, where the posters were cleared just one day back and there are already new posters up. Anybody can walk in there and put up a poster or hoard wherever they want and they get away with it.”
Another resident of the Mohammadwadi area, Leena Shah said, ‘’These issues may seem very little but they actually deface the entire area where we live. Why is no action taken to eradicate this issue once and for all? Why is this act let go of so easily without any consequences at the expense of our residential area looking ugly and dirty?’’
‘’This act can come to an end when the respective political representatives and leaders stand up and take a action. By setting an example to the citizens, it will cause considerable change and can also be controlled and stopped by the authorities’’, said a resident, Sonu Vashai.
When contacted, PMC officials gave no response regarding these issues.
An officer on the condition of anonymity said, “It is a continuous process. We will take action again.”
