Pune, 25th March 2026: Nilesh Shantaram Ambre, a student of the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), has been selected for the prestigious post of Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) through the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination.

To celebrate his achievement, a felicitation ceremony was held at the department. Prof. Dr. Vilas Adhav, Director and Head of the Department, guided the students and formally honored Ambre for his remarkable success.

Walking the Path of Equality and Justice

Addressing the students, Prof. Dr. Vilas Adhav highlighted the social responsibility of administrative officers. He said, “Officers must follow the path of equality as envisioned by our great social reformers. Every opportunity we receive should be used to benefit society, especially those in need. It is our duty to remain committed to ensuring justice for the most marginalized.”

A Versatile Academic Journey

Sharing his story, Ambre spoke about his diverse educational background. He began with a degree in Physics, followed by studies in Journalism, Yoga Instruction, Education, and finally Lifelong Learning, which ultimately paved the way for his selection as a PSI.

Ambre also stressed the importance of having a backup plan. “Being a certified Yoga Instructor provided me with a reliable Plan B while preparing for competitive exams. This reduced mental pressure and gave me steady support from my family and the department,” he said.

Mentorship and Perseverance

Ambre received specialized MPSC guidance from the Competitive Examination Centre at SPPU. During his tenure at the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension, he benefited from mentorship by Prof. Dr. Vilas Adhav, faculty members, and fellow students.

Reflecting on his journey through several exam setbacks, he expressed gratitude to Dr. S. Fazal Firdaus, Dr. Sanjay Tambat (Department of Journalism), and Dr. Geeta Shinde for their timely guidance and unwavering encouragement.
