Pune, October 5, 2020: The Pune airport will operate for restricted timings, between 8 am to 8 pm, starting October 26 till November, for the recarpeting work of the runway.
According to sources, “The airlines will shift all its night flights in the morning. The new winter schedule is also expected to be announced in the coming days.”
The airport started operations from May 25, 2020, after being shut since March-end due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Pune airport shares the runway with the Indian Air Force (IAF) which wants to start repairing the airstrip. The airport will have to be closed at night for the repair work. The airport currently does not have its own space. As the Air Force wants to expand and repair the airstrip in the areas under its control, there will be restrictions on the take-off and landing of all aircraft.
Meanwhile, the meeting of the Airport Advisory Committee under the chairmanship of Lok Sabha MP Girish Bapat will be held on October 6. The meeting agenda will be the development of a new terminal building, passengers’ facilities and construction of a new multi-level parking.
