Pune: Now Four-Wheeler Owners Can Get Attractive Vehicle Registration Numbers On March 1

Pune, February 26, 2021: A new series of registration numbers for four-wheelers is being launched at the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Pune.

If a four-wheeler owner pays the prescribed fee for an attractive or a preferred vehicle registration number, he or she can submit an application for the same to the Regional Transport Officer Ajit Shinde at the new registration department of the office between 10.30 am to 3.30 pm on March 1, 2021.

The application needs to be submitted with a demand draft (DD), proof of address, identity card, and an attested copy of the PAN card.

On the day of the launch of the new series of vehicle numbers, the RTO is usually crowded with citizens which causes an inconvenience in the work of the office system and often affects the citizens as well.

To reduce the inconvenience caused to the citizens and make it easy for them to get an attractive registration number, the RTO has asked four-wheeler owners to submit an application for the same on March 1, 2020.

Four-wheeler owners can now pay the prescribed fee along with an application form and attested documents to get an attractive number or a preferred vehicle registration number on March 1, 2021, during office hours from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm.

The application form should be submitted to the new registration department of the office along with DD, proof of address, identity card, and an attested copy of the PAN card. The DD should be in the name of ‘R.T.O., Pune’ from a Nationalized/Scheduled Bank in Pune. The DD should not be more than one month old. Besides that, the applicant must attach an attested copy of the PAN card.

An attested copy of the proof of address like electricity bill or telephone bill prescribed in Rule 4 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989 and Rule 5A of Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, should be submitted along with the application. The applicant also must submit an attested copy of his photo identity card i.e. Aadhaar Card /Election Commission Identity Card/Passport / PAN Card, etc., along with the application.

If more than one application is received for the same serial number, their list will be posted on the office notice board after 10.30 am on March 2, 2021. Applicants in this list should submit a single DD of the highest amount for auction to the office in a sealed envelope by 3 pm on March 2, 2021. The DD should be at least Rs 301 plus and should be in the name of ‘R.T.O., Pune’ from Nationalized/Scheduled Bank in Pune. If the DD is in the name of ‘Pune RTO,’ it will be deemed excluded.

The DDs will not be accepted after 3 pm. On the same day at 4 pm, the envelope will be opened in front of the eligible person (concerned applicant) and the preferred number will be issued to the applicant who has submitted a DD amount above the specified fee in the presence of the Regional Transport Officer at Sahakar Sabhagruha, Regional Transport Office, Pune.

Once registered, the registration number cannot be changed. If the vehicle is not submitted for registration within 30 days from the date of registration, the reserved registration number will be automatically canceled and the fee will be credited to the government. Fees provided for reserving any specific registration number under no circumstances can it be reversed or adjusted.

Application in the prescribed format for an attractive as well as the preferred registration number and a sample of the representative’s authorization is available in the office during office hours, RTO stated in a press release.
