Pune: Faraskhana Police Arrest 4 Robbers Who Looted People In Budhwar Peth And Shukrawar Peth

Pune, 26 February 2021: The sleuths from Faraskhana police station, Pune city police, have arrested four robbers who looted people in the busy Budhwar Peth and Shukrawar Peth areas of the city.

Around 4 pm on February 24, a trader Bapu Sudam Kante (47) of Pimpri was robbed of Rs 2,500 near Mandai. Kante had lodged a complaint against the unidentified robbers.

While investigating the case, policemen Amol Sarde and Mayur Bhokare learnt from their informer that the robbers are hiding in a closed room of the MSEDCL near Shaniwarwada.

Accordingly, a team raided the place and arrested the four persons. They have been identified as Anand Balu Sonawane alias 92 of Dhanori, Prakash Vaman Shinde (30)  of Takli Manur in Pathardi taluka of Ahmednagar district, Nitin Hari Vetal (19) of Parvati Paytha and Arjun Padma Thapa (36) who resides on footpath. Police have seized Rs 900 cash and four sharp knives from the spot.

According to police, the accused were robbing traders, customers and residents in Budhwar Peth and Shukrawar Peth after threatening them with knives. No one was filing a complaint against them as they would threaten to kill.

The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Dr Sanjay Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Dr Priyanka Naranware, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Faraskhana Division) Satish Govekar.

The team included Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Landge, Inspector (Crime) Rajesh Tatkare, Assistant Police Inspector Abhijeet Patil and police personnel Mehboob Mokashi, Sayaji Chavan, Vaibhav Swami, Amol Sarde, Mahavir Valte, Mohammad Hanif Shaukat Sheikh, Mohan Dalvi, Sachin Sarpale, Akash Valmiki, Rakesh Kshirsagar, Mayur Bhokare, Abhinay Chaudhary, Hrishikesh Dighe. Further investigation is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Abhijeet Patil.
