Pune, 5th October 2021: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) now has equipped the common citizens with the tool to complain against the hotel, restaurant, or sweet mart owner if they fail to serve you quality food. But it has a flip side too as eating might get dearer henceforth.

From October 1, 2021, the FSSAI has made it mandatory for the sweet marts, restaurants, caterers, bakery or hotels to have FSSAI license number or registration number on the bills. This will help the consumers if unhappy with the food to register a complaint with the authorities. Online complaints too can be field.

Food business operators must have an FSSAI registration number. Generally, the registration number is not easily seen on the bills and thus it was difficult for the consumer to complain.

The food business operators now have to write the FSSAI registration number on the packaging too. The retailers, sweet marts, caterers and others.

The number will help the consumers to make a complaint if they have any issues with the served food.
