Pune: One Dead And Five Injured In Accident At Kondhwa, Say Police
Pune 10th August 2023: One person has lost his life while five other sustained injuries after multiple vehicles collided in an accident reported near Khadi Machine Chowk at Kondhwa in Pune earlier today. The deceased has been identified as Prashant Krishna Chaure (43), a resident of Dhankawadi area.
According to police, the incident was reported at around 9:30 am on Thursday morning on Katraj – Kondhwa bypass road. A truck carrying cement pipes hit multiple vehicles after one of the vehicles on the road stopped immediately and the other did not get time to control their vehicles. At least 8 to 10 vehicles were hit by the truck that was moving towards Kondhwa from Katraj side. Six people had sustained injuries in the incident while one of them was declared dead by the doctors.
The incident has again sparked road widening issues as it has been pending for a long time due to land acquisition problems at some places. The local citizens have been demanding to widen this road as it witnesses heavy traffic jams during the peak hours as it is also used by vehicles that intend to bypass the city to go towards Solapur from Pune-Bengaluru Highway. The Municipal Commissioner earlier inspected the area and arranged a meeting with locals which according to PMC officials will help to solve the land acquisition problem here.
