Pune: One Died And One Injured In Accident At Koregaon Bhima
Koregaon Bhima, 11th February 2023: A person on a two-wheeler was killed on the spot after a speeding truck hit the bike rider in front of the ST stand at Koregaon Bhima, taluka Shirur on Pune-Nagar highway. Another person was also injured due to the accident. A case has been registered against the truck driver.
According to the information given by the Shikrapur police and the complaint filed by Prashant Shivaji Jadhav, Prashant Jadhav and his friend Nikhil Jivaram Rawat were going towards Ahmadnagar in the afternoon.
At Koregaon Bhima around 2.30 pm, the truck hit the two-wheeler resulting in the two falling down the bike. But the truck driver did not stop the vehicle and Nikhil Rawat who was trapped under the truck was crushed and died on the spot. The complainant was also seriously injured in the said accident.
A case is registered against truck driver Prafulla Chandrakant Nikalje, a resident of Khedkar Mala, Uruli Kanchan, and further investigation is being conducted by Assistant Police Inspector Avinash Thorat.
12 people have died in the last two months between Wagholi and Shikrapur due to speeding vehicles while the renovation work of the six-lane road of the Pune-Nagar highway is underway. Since many lives have been lost due to the increase in the speed of vehicles on the road, the Public Works Department has faced the challenge of reducing the speed of vehicles on the road.
