Pune: Bridge Over River Vel Is Dangerous; Construction Of Almost 1,200 Meters Road Is Still Pending
Shirur, 14th February 2023: The bridge over river Vel on PMRDA road at Talegaon Dhamdhere in Shirur taluka of Pune district, has become very dangerous. The demand for immediate construction of the bridge on the PMRDA road over the Vel River here, as well as the construction of the half-completed road of about 1200 meters, is gaining momentum.
The PMRDA road at Talegaon Dhamdhere is very easy for drivers travelling from Ahmednagar to Pune, and this bypass road comes to Talegaon Dhamdhere village via Kasari Phata. While constructing this road, PMRDA has not bridged the river.
This road on the river Vel is filled with raw material. There are big potholes on the road. Motorists have to navigate through the embankment on the dilapidated bridge over the Vel river, looking for a road in the pit. Also, about 1,200 meters of road from this bridge is not yet constructed by PMRDA; it is in partial condition, narrow and dangerous.
The traffic on the Pune-Nagar road has increased to a great extent and the vehicles on this road cause a lot of traffic jams in Shikrapur. To reduce the traffic congestion at Shikrapur, PMRDA has constructed a bypass road from Kasari Phata to Talegaon Dhamdhere for vehicles going from the city to Pune.
From Talegaon Dhamdhere this road further goes to Pune via L&T Phata and Pimple Jagtap. Due to the lack of a bridge on this road over the Vel river at Talegaon Dhamdhere, it has become difficult for vehicles to drive through the dangerous road.
Drivers are suffering due to large potholes on the road on the worn-out embankment. During the monsoons, the embankment here is washed away, as this barricade was temporarily repaired. There is a dire need for a new bridge on this dangerous road. Also, the office bearers of the Lawyers’ Association, Adv Suhas Dhamdhere, Adv Deepak Dhamdhere, and many other drivers and villagers have demanded the completion of the construction of the bridge and repair of the road.
