Pune: One Person Arrested for Illegal Storage of Gas Cylinders Leading to Explosion in Viman Nagar
Viman Nagar, 27th December 2023: An FIR has been filed against two individuals for the unauthorized storage of LPG cylinders, resulting in an explosion in MHADA Colony near the last bus stop in Viman Nagar, Pune.
The incident occurred at approximately 3 pm today. According to officials, more than 100 cylinders were stored, with over 10 of them exploding. The Pune Fire Brigade successfully extinguished the fire, averting a potential major disaster.
Acting upon a complaint filed by Police Sub Inspector Ravindra Warangule (33), the Vimantal police station has registered a case against Shyam Bishnoi and Deepak Ranganath Deokar, both residents of MHADA Colony in Viman Nagar, along with other unidentified workers.

As outlined in the FIR, the accused deliberately put the lives of individuals at the labor camp in jeopardy. Charges include an attempt to commit culpable homicide. The police have invoked sections 308, 285, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, along with other relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act. Deokar, one of the accused, was apprehended around 9 pm.
