Pune, 9th May 2024: For individuals possessing a valid license to operate a two-wheeler, obtaining a learner’s license for motorcycle riding online, without the need for a test, has now become a hassle-free process. Previously marred by technical difficulties, the online system for learner’s license issuance at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) is now functioning smoothly, bringing relief to applicants who previously grappled with system glitches.

Over the past few months, aspiring licensees encountered numerous challenges while attempting to secure learner’s licenses via the online platform, prompting many to resort to in-person visits to the RTO.

In response to these issues, the RTO has taken decisive measures to rectify the situation and streamline online services, ensuring that citizens can access services without unnecessary hassles. The recent resolution of technical glitches has enabled applicants to obtain learner’s licenses conveniently from the comfort of their homes.

Sanjeev Bhor, the Regional Transport Officer in charge, affirmed that efforts are underway to address the challenges encountered by citizens in accessing online services. Notably, one common issue pertains to learner’s license applicants failing the test due to inadvertent movements during the process. To mitigate such instances, RTO staff diligently review online applications, granting approval in cases where technical errors are identified as the cause of failure, thereby eliminating the need for applicants to physically visit the RTO.

However, amidst the streamlined process, concerns persist regarding discrepancies in the Aadhaar card details. In Maharashtra, where the middle name is mandatory for Aadhaar card holders, applicants with variations in their Aadhaar card details face obstacles in obtaining learner’s licenses online. Additionally, individuals holding valid licenses for specific vehicle types encounter difficulties when seeking learner’s licenses for different vehicle categories, further exacerbated by Aadhaar-related issues.

Vijay Kumar Duggal, president of the Maharashtra State Motor Driving School Owners Association, emphasized the urgent need for a resolution to these issues, advocating for the removal of the middle name requirement on Aadhaar cards and seeking solutions to facilitate seamless learner’s license issuance for individuals with existing licenses.
