Pune: Opium-Selling Gang from Rajasthan Busted by Pimpri-Chinchwad Anti-Narcotics Squad, 60 Kg of Opium Seized

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 24th August 2023: The vigilant anti-narcotics squad of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police dismantled an opium-selling gang originating from Rajasthan. The operation led to the arrest of three individuals involved in the illegal trade. The suspects had devised a scheme to store large quantities of opium in a godown situated in the Mhalunge area of Chakan, intending to distribute it in smaller packets.

However, their plans were thwarted when police officers executed a well-coordinated raid, confiscating approximately 60 kg of opium. The arrested culprits have been identified as Rakesh Jeevanram Bishnoi, Kailas Joraram Bishnoi, and Mukesh Gidhariram Bishnoi.

The police acted on a tip-off, indicating that a Rajasthan-based gang had established a clandestine opium storage operation within a godown in the sparsely populated vicinity of Chakan Mhalunge. Utilizing a tempo, the gang transported sacks of opium to this location. The anti-narcotics squad, acting with precision, maintained surveillance on the godown for a span of eight days. Their diligence culminated in the apprehension of the key orchestrator, Rakesh Jeevanram Bishnoi.

Subsequent to this pivotal arrest, the police swiftly conducted a thorough search of the godown, leading to the confiscation of 60 kg of opium. Santosh Patil from the anti-narcotics team revealed that the estimated street value of the seized opium stands at a staggering eight lakh and 74 thousand rupees.

The seized opium was destined for packaging in smaller units, aimed at catering to drug addicts. Each kilogram of opium was anticipated to fetch around Rs 15,000 in the illicit market. Authorities have discerned that the supply of opium originated from Rajasthan. A parallel investigation is underway in Rajasthan to locate and apprehend the individuals connected to this operation.

This successful operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Choubey, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Crime Branch) Swapna Gore, ACP Satish Mane and Police Inspector Santosh Patil. The team included Assistant Police Inspector Prashant Mahale, Sub-Inspector Rajan Mahadik, and police personnel Dnyaneshwar Dalvi, Pradeep Shelar, Ashok Gargote, Balasaheb Suryavanshi, Mayur Wadkar, Santosh Bhalerao, Dada Dhas, Ajit Kate, Randhir Mane, Mitesh Yadav, Pandurang Fande, and Balu Kokate.
