Pune, 4th October 2025: The e-registration facility has significantly simplified the registration process, with a total of 31,785 documents registered online over the past five years, said Ravindra Binwade, Inspector General of Registration and Controller of Stamps.

Binwade shared this information during a meeting organized by the Registration and Stamps Department on the e-registration and e-SBTR system. Deputy Inspector General of Registration (Headquarters) Udayraj Chavan, departmental officers, and representatives of various banks were also present.

Speaking at the event, Binwade said, “The Registration and Stamps Department introduced this facility in 2020-21, allowing citizens to complete the sale agreement process online without visiting the registration office. Necessary provisions have been made under the Registration Act and Maharashtra e-Registration Rules to enable this.”

He added that the e-SBTR system is a legal and secure method for paying stamp duty. “It is reliable as there is no scope for duplication or other irregularities. The e-SBTR initiative has been in place for twelve years, and so far, no cases of malpractice have been reported,” Binwade said.

Documents printed on e-SBTR, digitally signed, and registered through e-registration are considered original documents. Binwade emphasized that banks should treat these documents as originals for loan or other financial purposes.
