Pune: Over 400 PMPML and MSRTC Drivers Fined For Traffic Rules Violations In 20 Days
Pune 23rd Oct 2023: The Traffic Police Department under a special drive against Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) and Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses have fined over 400 drivers for violation of traffic rules while driving in the city.
According to officials, a total of 435 drivers have been penalised by the traffic department in a period of 20 days. This includes 324 drivers of PMPML and 110 drivers of MSRTC buses. The special drive was conducted by the traffic police between October 2 and October 21.
Both PMPML and ST bus drivers have been found to violate traffic rules frequently, posing a threat to the lives of citizens. The violations included not stopping the bus at designated stops, stopping the bus in the middle of the road, crossing zebra crossings and not following the signals. Strict legal action has been taken against them for driving buses in a manner that jeopardizes public safety.
Senior officials of PMPML and MSRTC have also been notified about the violations. The authorities are taking these violations seriously and have warned of strict action against the drivers including registration of cases against them for endangering the lives of citizens by flouting traffic rules.
