Pune, 28th September 2023: A startling incident has come to light at a government hospital in Bhor, where a man was administered saline while seated on a chair due to a lack of available beds. Another individual accompanying him was seen holding the saline bottle in his hand. The patient had reportedly come for treatment following a snake bite.

According to a report published in Marathi newspaper Pudhari, the patient, a resident of Hirdoshi village in Bhor taluka, sought treatment for a snake bite at the sub-district hospital in Rambaug, Bhor on Wednesday. With no beds available, the patient was given saline while seated on a chair, and another person was asked to hold the bottle due to the absence of a stand.

The patient waited for over an hour for a bed and was finally admitted after doctors noticed blood oozing from his hand.

Hospital authorities stated that they are overwhelmed with patients suffering from cold and flu symptoms, leading to a shortage of both infrastructure and staff. As a result, several patients are forced to wait until beds become available for admission.
