Pune: CME Marks 80 Years of Engineering Excellence in Defence Training

Dapodi, 28th September 2023: The College of Military Engineering (CME) located at Dapodi today celebrated its 80th Raising Day.

The College of Military Engineering was established initially as a School of Military Engineering at Thomason College, Roorkee on 28 September 1943 and later, shifted to Khadki, Pune on 1948. The College has a privilege of being visited by famous dignitaries like Late PM, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Late President APJ Abdul Kalam and Late President Pranab Mukherjee. The College has celebrated its ‘Platinum Jubilee’ on 28 September 2018.

The College’s vision is ‘To be the Premier Training Institution with a state of the art training and modern infrastructure for imparting the best quality of training on all relevant Engineering and Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear Protection (CBRNP) aspects to Defence forces. The College has been awarded with General Officer Commanding in Chief, Army Training Command Unit citation twice in the year 2015 and 2021 for its excellent contribution in imparting high quality training in Combat Engineering.

To mark the occasion, Major General Vinayak Saini, Sena Medal, Officiating Commandant, CME held a Special Sainik Sammelan of the College and felicitated staff with appreciation cards. He exhorted all ranks and civilian staff of CME to rededicate themselves and strive for excellence and also to be prepared to adapt to the constantly changing technological world.
