Pune: Pavana Dam Water Level Rises to 26% Amid Early Rainfall

Pavana Nagar, 26th May 2025: The Pavana Dam has recorded a significant rise in water levels, reaching 26.20% of its total capacity, thanks to early and consistent rainfall in the dam catchment area over the past few days. The region received 65 mm of rain on Sunday, with steady showers continuing into Monday.
According to Rajnish Bariya, Branch Engineer of Pavana Dam, the monsoon has arrived earlier than expected this year, and even the pre-monsoon showers were quite intense. For the past three to four days, light to moderate rainfall has been observed daily in the dam area, contributing to a gradual increase in the reservoir’s water levels.
On Monday morning, the water stock in the dam reached 26.20%. Comparatively, on the same date last year, the water level was recorded at 25.43%. Officials are optimistic that with the onset of monsoon rainfall, water reserves will continue to improve, offering much-needed relief amid growing water concerns in the region.
The consistent rainfall has not only boosted water levels but also brought hope for better water availability in the coming months. The Pavana Dam plays a crucial role in meeting the drinking and irrigation water needs of Pimpri-Chinchwad and nearby developing areas with high population, making this early rainfall particularly significant.
