Pune: PCMC Celebrates Constitution Day with Recitation of Preamble and Civic Honors

Pimpri, 26th November 2023: On the occasion of Indian Constitution Day, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) organized a felicitation program at its main administrative building in Pimpri. Commencing the event, Additional Commissioner Ulhas Jagtap paid homage to the statue of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the visionary architect of the Constitution. Following this, the Preamble of the Constitution was collectively recited, with attendees expressing gratitude for embodying the principles of the Constitution and presenting their copies.

 

Deputy Commissioner Manoj Lonkar, Special Officer Kiran Gaikwad, Deputy Engineer Chandrakant Kumbhar, Public Relations Officer Prafulla Puranik, former councillor Maruti Bhapkar, and various social activists graced the occasion. Additional Commissioner Jagtap extended tributes to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue at Pimpri Chowk, where the Preamble of the Constitution was recited, symbolically adorned with wreaths. He then inaugurated a two-day awareness program organized by the Municipal Corporation in honour of Constitution Day, also reading the Preamble. The event included the felicitation of students achieving success in competitive exams.

 

Prominent figures present at the event included former Councilor Maruti Bhapkar, President of Pimpri-Chinchwad Bar Association Adv Ramraje Bhosle, and several social workers and activists. Special Officer Kiran Gaikwad introduced the program, while Prafulla Puranik served as the moderator, reading the Preamble. The vote of thanks was proposed by Kajal Kothlikar, concluding the event that celebrated the collective commitment to building a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic of India, as enshrined in the Constitution.
