Pune: PCMC Demolishes Structures in Wakad and Pimple Nilakh

Wakad, 10th January 2024: To address traffic congestion and ensure smooth movement along key routes, the ‘D’ Zone Office conducted a comprehensive eviction action from January 3rd to January 10th. The focus of the operation was on removing unauthorized paper sheds and constructions along the roads from Jagtap Dairy Chowk to Bhujbal Chowk (Wakad-Hinjawadi Bridge), Madhuban Family Restaurant And Bar in Ward No. 25 and 26 at Wakad and Pimple Nilakh.

The eviction action carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil and City Engineer Makarand Nikam, resulted in the demolition of approximately 3,02,580 square feet of unauthorized paper sheds and brick structures. This initiative was driven by the directive of Commissioner Shekhar Singh, and the Regional Officer of ‘D’ Ward, along with Assistant Commissioner Dr. Ankush Jadhav, played a crucial role in its execution.

The targeted area was prone to traffic jams due to encroachments, impacting the daily commute for residents travelling to Katraj Dehu Road Bypass, Hinjawadi, Wakad, Pimple Saudagar, Nashik Phata, Rahatni, Aundh, Sangvi, and other locations. The successful eviction is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve the overall commuting experience for the public.

The coordinated effort involved multiple departments, including the Construction Department, with key personnel such as Executive Engineer Abasaheb Dhavale, Deputy Engineer Rajesh Jagtap, and others contributing to the effective execution of the operation. The deployment of resources, including the Municipal Corporation Encroachment Squad, MSF Officers, Municipal Police, regular police personnel, labourers, JCBs, and tempo, ensured the swift and successful clearance of encroachments.
