Pimpri, 23rd April 2023: Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has taken action against those who waste water by disconnecting illegal taps from nine washing centres in Nehrunagar and Bhosari.

The Water Supply Department of the municipality received complaints that some washing centre operators were using drinking water. In response, the department conducted a survey and found that out of 207 washing centres in the city, 168 operators were using borewells and well water, while 29 centres had been given professional licenses only five years ago.

As a result, illegal taps were seized from nine washing centre operators, three in Nehrunagar and six in Bhosari, and their water supply has been stopped, according to the Executive Engineer of the Water Supply Department, Ramnath Takle.

The water level in Pavana Dam is continuously decreasing, and with the heat wave intensifying, the need for water for citizens is increasing. PCMC’s actions against illegal water use aim to conserve the available water resources.
