Pune: PCMC Hires Transgenders As Security Guards

Pimpri, 2nd July 2022: Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has accepted third gender individuals as security guards. They have been hired on contract basis.

Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Rajesh Patil has stated that this project is being implemented through the Social Development Department. The commissioner has said that such job opportunities will be given considering these factors in future as well.

A guard Nikita said, “Most people have different point of view for us and they believe that we are sex workers or beggars. However, I am happy to see that the PCMC is trying to bring the third gender into the mainstream.”

Another guard, Rupali added, “I wore a sari 17 years ago. I had never thought that I would get such a job opportunity. The corporation has given us this opportunity.”
