Pimpri, 11th May 2022: Most of the public relations offices of all political party’s people’s representatives in Pimpri-Chinchwad appear to be illegal. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has never shown the will to take action against these offices which were built in an attractive manner by violating the rules.

The number of all kinds of illegal constructions in the city is said to be more than two lakh. These illegal constructions are classified as Municipal Corporation, MIDC, Red Zone as well as constructions on private lands. For many years, the issue of illegal constructions, the action taken against them and the amount of penalty (penalty tax) levied on illegal constructions has been a key issue. This issue has been politicized for years. However, no concrete solution has been reached so far.

This is the subject of the illegal construction of people’s representatives. Set up in various parts of the city, most of the people’s representatives have done illegal construction for (all-party) public relations offices. Municipal permission has not been obtained for these constructions.

So far no action has been taken against such constructions. Against the backdrop of municipal elections, the municipality had prepared a list of illegal constructions of people’s representatives. Accordingly, notice was issued to the concerned. However, nothing further happened. The PCMC kept the matter under wraps, showing that it was just a job to issue notices.

Makrand Nikam, City Engineer, PCMC informed that “It cannot be said that the action taken against the people’s representatives was wrapped up. Notices were issued to those whose illegal constructions were found. They removed the illegal construction while some stopped using those offices. Therefore, it is not time to take further action. Definite action will be taken if illegal constructions are found.”
