Pune: PCMC Initiates Survey to Strengthen Fire Safety Measures in Commercial Establishments

Pimpri, 1st January 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is actively working to enhance fire safety norms in the city through a survey conducted with the assistance of women’s self-help groups. PCMC Administrator and Commissioner Shekhar Singh has urged commercial establishments to provide complete information during the ongoing survey, emphasizing the critical importance of fire safety.

During the initial phases of the survey, it was noted that 43,925 commercial establishments in Pimpri Chinchwad City submitted incomplete information regarding their fire safety measures. Commissioner Singh has urged these establishments to quickly fill in the required information using the link sent to them via mobile numbers.

Commissioner Singh highlighted the paramount importance of fire safety and the municipality’s commitment to prioritizing citizen safety. The survey, conducted by women in self-help groups through the Women’s Development Corporation, Pune, aims to assess fire safety infrastructure and address any lapses in implementation.

PCMC Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale-Patil emphasized the cooperative role of commercial establishments in ensuring a safe environment. Owners and occupants are urged to provide complete information during the survey to facilitate the evaluation of fire safety measures. A link has been sent to establishments’ mobile numbers for this purpose.

Jambhale-Patil warned that establishments failing to provide complete information may face penal action or closure. The survey serves as a proactive measure to enforce and enhance fire safety standards in the Pimpri Chinchwad area.
