Pune: PCMC Puts Up Names Of Property Tax Defaulters On Notice Boards Of Housing Societies
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 16th January 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has launched an attempt to pursue defaulters for unpaid property taxes. A list of tax defaulters has been given to the housing societies.
Additionally, the PCMC cautions that failure to pay taxes will result in the suspension of the water connection. The civic organisation also intends to post the list of tax evaders on the notice board around the community.
As a result, in a recent action, the water connections of a few housing societies were severed since defaulters were discovered in those societies. The housing society association has submitted a letter to the municipal commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad requesting that the action be stopped and an alternative method of punishing tax defaulters be used.
The letter states, “A campaign is currently going on by the tax collection department of PCMC for the recovery of overdue taxes. Under this campaign, the water supply of the entire society will be cut, after the defaulter fails to pay the property taxes. During the action the water connection of societies were cut down. This is very wrong and illegal. Also, please note that if this wrong and unjust campaign continues, then we will stage a huge protest in front of PCMC building with the society owners who have paid the full property tax.”
