Pune: PCMC Sends Notices To 600 Societies; Warns To Pay Property Tax Otherwise Flats Will Be Confiscated

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 22nd September 2022: Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has launched a campaign through the Collection Department for the recovery of arrears of property tax.

The Tax Collection Department has warned the flat owners that their flats would be confiscated if their taxes are not paid. The Municipal Corporation has given notices to the presidents and secretaries of more than 600 societies in the city.

The PCMC issued notices to more than 600 housing societies in Wakad, Thergaon, Sangvi, Moshi and Charholi areas. It includes presidents and secretaries of societies, where more than 50 per cent of flat holders have not paid tax. If these flat owners do not pay the tax immediately, the municipal administration will take action to confiscate their flats and cut off the water supply.

The security guards of the society are instructed to allow the concerned municipal employees to enter the society with the official identification card of the municipal corporation and orders, documents etc., following the property confiscation action. The Tax Collection Department has warned the housing societies that they will take action for obstructing government work if it is notified that they are not given access to the society.

Nilesh Deshmukh, Assistant Commissioner, Tax Collection Department, “Many flat holders do not pay taxes on time. Therefore, action will be taken against them and their flats will be confiscated. For this, notices have been given to six hundred societies in the city. This action will be started soon.”
