Pune: PCMC’s hunt for a ‘Face of Cleanliness’ sees creative surge from citizens and designers alike
Pimpri, 7th August 2025: In a bid to creatively amplify the message of cleanliness and citizen participation, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has extended the deadline for its ongoing Mascot Design Competition to August 13, 2025, following an overwhelming response from residents, students, and professional designers.
The competition—part of PCMC’s preparations for the Swachh Survekshan 2025-26—seeks to create a mascot that reflects the city’s growing ambitions to top the national cleanliness rankings. With themes such as sanitation, public responsibility, plastic-free living, and waste segregation at its core, the contest aims to blend creativity with civic consciousness.
“The Mascot Design Competition is more than just a contest—it’s an invitation to our citizens to become co-creators of Pimpri Chinchwad’s identity. The creativity of our people will now become a part of the city’s visual narrative,” said Vijaykumar Khorate, Additional Commissioner, PCMC.
Calling it a unique opportunity for citizens to actively participate in shaping the city’s future, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar added, “Cleanliness cannot be achieved without the people’s involvement. This contest offers a platform for citizens to contribute meaningfully through design and imagination.”
The mascot selected through the competition will represent PCMC in various official events, campaigns, and outreach programmes, effectively becoming the symbolic ‘face’ of the city’s cleanliness mission. Winners will also receive attractive prizes.
