Pune: Penalty Of Rs 5 Lakh For Driving Through ‘No Entry’; Action Against 887 People In Two Days In Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 23rd January 2023: Pimpri-Chinchwad traffic police launched a special campaign to take action against reckless drivers. A major action was taken in the case of driving in the opposite direction as well as through ‘no entry’. In this campaign implemented in 14 Traffic Divisions of the city, 887 people were fined 4.96 lakh on two days on Friday (January 20) and Saturday (January 21).

This campaign has been undertaken by the police to control the traffic and reduce the number of accidents under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. The traffic police directly filed cases and submitted the cases to the court in the case of driving in the opposite direction. Punitive action was taken against those driving in the opposite direction.

No action has been taken in Hinjewadi, Dehur Road, Bavdhan traffic division in the case of driving in opposite direction. Most action was taken in Bhosari and Sangvi traffic division. Sangvi and Wakad divisions took the most action in the case of driving through ‘no entry’.

Vehicles coming in the opposite direction create the possibility of an accident. There was also a chance of traffic jams and traffic rules are also violated. Therefore, the traffic police have taken action against such unruly drivers.

Satish Mane, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch said, “Traffic rules must be followed. Various measures are being taken for the same. Traffic requires discipline to prevent accidents. Action is being taken against reckless drivers for that. A special campaign is being conducted and punitive action is being taken. Drivers should follow traffic rules.”
