Shivajinagar, 8th February 2026: A petrol car caught fire near the Shimla Office area in Shivajinagar late Saturday night, prompting a swift response from the Pune Fire Brigade. No injuries were reported in the incident.

According to officials, the fire broke out between 9.54 pm and 10.29 pm when a Maruti Suzuki Nexa vehicle (registration number MH 42 AX 5700) was moving near the Shimla Office Chowk. The car is owned by Nitin Zagde, a resident of Baramati.

A firefighter said the blaze damaged the entire front engine section, including wiring, bonnet, coolant system, and the left-side tyre. “The exact cause of the fire is not yet known,” the official said.

A witness said that smoke was first noticed coming from the car as it was turning near Shimla Office Chowk. “We alerted the driver to stop the vehicle. Police personnel present at the spot helped him pull the car to the side of the road. People first tried to douse the flames with mud, but the fire spread quickly, so the fire brigade was called,” the witness said.
