Pune: Pimple Nilakh Resident Duped of In Rs 33 Lakh Part-Time Job Fraud
Pimple Nilakh, 9th January 2024: In an incident that unfolded between November 9 and December 2, 2023, a resident of Pimple Nilakh, a 46-year-old man, fell victim to an online scam, losing a staggering amount of 32 lakh 92 thousand 563 rupees. The complaint was lodged at Sangvi Police Station (Pimpri Chinchwad police), leading to the registration of a case against the alleged perpetrator, Anu Sharma, and her accomplices.
The victim received a seemingly innocuous WhatsApp message from a mobile number claiming to represent a marketing company offering part-time job opportunities. Anu Sharma, purportedly associated with the marketing company, convinced the complainant to invest a substantial amount by assigning online tasks at different intervals. Despite the investment, the victim received no compensation in return, resulting in a significant financial loss.
The police are investigating the case further to trace the individuals involved in the online fraud.
