Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Bust Black Marketing Of LPG Cylinders, Three Persons Arrested

Pimpri, 14th December 2021: The social security cell of the Pimpri Chinchwad police crime branch has nabbed three persons who were stealing LPG from gas tankers in Chakan. The accused used to sell the LPG cylinders through black marketing.

While addressing a press conference, Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash said, “We have seized two gas tankers worth Rs 1.08 crores, 30 cylinders worth Rs 70,000, a refilling connector worth Rs 21,000 and mobile phone worth Rs 21,000.”

The arrested persons have been identified as drivers Narsinh Dattu Phad (31) and Govind Munde (28), both residents of Beed district and their accomplice Raju Baban Chavan (52) of Rase in Khed taluka of Pune district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Police Inspector Devendra Chavan and officials from Chakan police station nabbed three men on Sunday midnight while stealing LPG from two tankers in front of Jare Lawns behind Ganraj Gas Agency on Chakan-Shikrapur Road in Rase village in Khed taluka.

The tankers came from Uran in Raigad district to an Indian Oil’s Indane facility in Rase village. However, the drivers first took the tankers to another place to facilitate LPG theft. Chavan paid Rs 600 to the drivers for each filled commercial gas cylinder and then sold one cylinder for Rs 1600.

The investigation team included API Dr Ashok Dongre, PI Dhairyashil Solanke, and police personnel Yogesh Tidke, Jalindar Gare, Sachin Gonte, Nitin Londhe, Santosh Barge, Vijay Kamble, Bhagwanta Muthe, Anil Mahajan, Rajesh Kokate, Ganesh Karote, Vaishnavi Gawde and Atul Lokhande.
