Pune Trainee Doctor And Nurse Steal Ornaments From Ranka Jewelers To Impress Girlfriends

Hadapsar, 14th December 2021: Pune city police has arrested a trainee doctor and a male nurse for allegedly stealing ornaments from Ranka Jewellers in Hadapsar to have fun and give gifts to their girlfriends. Police have recovered ornaments worth Rs 2.5 lakh.

The arrested persons have been identified as trainee doctor Aniket Hanumant Rokade (23) of Latur and Vaibhav Sanjay Jagtap of Risod in Washim district.

According to police, Rokade is student of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) student and Jagtap is a third-year BSc (Nursing) student. They work together. On December 8, they went to the Ranka Jewellers branch in Magarpatta City under the pretext of buying ornaments. When the salesman got distracted the accused swiped three gold rings from the store.

Senior Police Inspector Arvind Gokule, in-charge of Hadapsar police station, said that after getting the complaint, our team searched for the accused through CCTV cameras footage. Policemen Shahid Shaikh, Nikhil Pawar and Prashant Dudhal received information about the accused and they were caught.

“We have seized 33 grams ornaments worth Rs 2.5 lakh. The accused had committed a similar crime at Blue Stone Jeweler in Kothrud. During the investigation, the accused said that they are addicts and wanted to give gifts to their girlfriends, hence they committed the theft. Further investigation is going on,” he added.

The action was taken under the guidance of DCP (Zone 5) Namrata Patil, ACP Bajrang Desai and Police Inspector Gokule.
