Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Officer Dies in Accident During New Year Patrol
Pune, 1st January 2025: A police officer in Pimpri Chinchwad lost his life in a road accident while on duty. The incident occurred during a New Year Patrol under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC). The officer, identified as Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Jitendra Girnar, was working at Mahalunge MIDC Police Station.
PSI Girnar rear-ended a container, resulting in fatal injuries. He joined the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) a few years ago and was initially assigned to Wakad Police Station before being transferred to Mahalunge MIDC Police Station a few months ago. Senior Police Inspector Nitin Gite, in charge of Mahalunge MIDC Police Station, stated that PSI Girnar was on a 12-hour duty shift. While patrolling near Mahindra Vehicle Manufacturers Ltd within the station limits, his car collided with a tempo, leading to serious injuries and his eventual death.
As part of New Year’s Eve arrangements, Pimpri Chinchwad Police had deployed additional personnel to address any potential misconduct. PSI Girnar was also part of this initiative but passed away on New Year’s morning. This loss marks a somber beginning to the year for Pimpri Chinchwad Police officials.
