Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Seize 72 LPG Cylinders, Arrest Three For Gas Theft In Wakad And Thergaon

Pimpri, 9th May 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad area has seen a rise in theft incidents recently, including LPG thefts, which have endangered human habitation.

The Crime Branch of Pimpri Chinchwad police has detained three people red-handed while illegally transferring gas from one cylinder to another, preventing a potential disaster. The detained individuals include Vishnu Jyotiram Sutar (24) and Atul Srihari Panchal (25), both residents of Thergaon, and Jairam Sarjerao Chaudhary (22), a resident of Nere Dattawadi, Mulshi taluka.

During the raid, gas cylinders and other materials worth Rs 78,700 were seized from Sutar and Panchal, while Chaudhary had Rs 71,525 worth of gas cylinders and materials. Police received reports of illegal gas extraction from cylinders in Wakad and Thergaon, after which they conducted the raid and arrested the accused. The police have seized a total of 72 cylinders worth nearly one and a half lakh rupees (Rs 1,50,225), including 43 domestic use cylinders, three commercial use cylinders, and 26 small four-kilo cylinders.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Sanjay Shinde, Additional missioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Swapna Gore, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Padmakar Ghanwat. The team of officers who conducted the operation included Police Inspector Jitendra Kadam of Crime Branch Unit Two, Police Sub Inspector Ganesh Mane, and Deva Raut, Jaywant Raut, Santosh Ingle, and Sagar Avasare.
